How To Do Free Reverse Phone Number Lookup

You're armed with a number that could potentially tell you who's behind door number 3, and you're ready to do a reverse phone number lookup, but there's only one problem - you don't want to schill out the cash for such a service. In your efforts of searching this number that you have, you come across hundreds of sites that claim totally free reverse lookups, only to find that they want you to actually pay to use the full service and get results.

Here's the thing that I've got to mention up front. No matter how much information you think you can retrieve on a number by using free methods, you will not get every thing that you are looking for, and possibly none of it.

If you really must do a free reverse phone number lookup, this is how its done.

Enter the number that you are searching into google's search box. This is the same search box that you would use to explore websites with. Make sure that you enter the number in this fashion: 555 - 555 - 5555.

Hit enter and see what comes up. If there are too many confusing results, try putting the number into parenthesis - sometimes this helps. As a last resort you can put the number into "quotations" which will bring up an exact match. If you get any names or address associated with the number that you are searching, then you can use google map to determine the location of the caller. If no results are provided then you are basically out of luck I hate to say.

One thing that I should mention is that when you are using the google phone book, you may want to enter in your own number, and then click on the link that says "Request to have your name removed from the list". If you are worried about privacy then this is the way to go.

The pitfalls of using google as a reverse lookup is that google does not index cell numbers or unlisted numbers. The benefit of using an actual reverse phone number lookup, is that they can actually acquire these types of numbers to add to their data bases.

So with google you might get lucky and find a landline, but chances are the only type of numbers that you will find are business numbers.

If its important to you I would suggest buckling down and investing in a reverse lookup, which are very affordable and will grant you unlimited searches, with many features that make using google seem like nonsense.
