Known as the centennial state do to the perfect time of it entering into the union in 1876, the first centennial, Colorado has a population of over five million people and has enough mountains and diverse terrain to keep even the pickiest explorer happy.
The state has lots of ancient history to offer, and many clues that clearly show that it has been occupied by Native Americans for over 13,000 years.
The beginning of its ownership by the United States started way back in eighteen three with the Louisiana purchase, which allowed the U.S. access to the Eastern side of the Rockies.
Because mainly of the gold rush in California, and the claiming of all land around Colorado, it was inevitable that it too would be settled by pioneers and big dreamers as well.
One thing that is definitely interesting is the fact that the Boulder area contains well over 50% of Denver's total population, or about 3 million to be exact.
Colorado is also very well known for its gas and oil fields, and it also features 7 of the largest in all of America.
Colorado state also has many well known education institutions and universities like the National Technological University, Colorado Mountain College and Johnson and Wales university.
This state is also very well known for its sports teams and dedicated fans of teams like the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Rockies.
For those who have at thing for history, there are plenty of fascinating historical and nationally protected sites. Some of which are Bent's Old Fort, Pony Express Trail and the Continental Divide Trail.
