BRIEF HISTORY:

Arizona is the very last state that actually is on the continent of north American to be admitted to the union, which occurred on February 14th, 1912.

It is a state that is fairly diverse terrain and weather wise despite the fact that it is located so far south in the US.

It is a major tourist hub for good reason. It nicely borders many other states and contains the Grand Canyon to the north of the state, as well as quite a few other state parks.

It was first fully explored by the Spanish explorer Marcos de Niza in 1539, and many people do not realize it but it was considered to be one of the confederate states.

Many well known politicians have come from Arizona including Senator Carl Hayden, Sandra Day O'Connor and William Rehnquist.

Numerous movies have also been made in parts of Arizona like U-Turn, Raising Arizona, and even parts of Psycho are set and shot around the area.

Arizona also has many, many colleges like Arizona Western College, Dine College, Mohave Community College and Yavapai College just to name a few.

Several battles were fought during the Mexican Revolution near Arizona

The U.S. had its own version of the Red Baron during WWI, who's name was Frank Luke, the 2nd top ace pilot who was killed in Europe, but born in Phoenix.

Arizona was also a major state to house German, Japanese and Italian POWs during WWII.
