HISTORY OF AREA CODE:

The area code that is known as 928 was created on the twenty-third of the month of June in two thousand and one as a split from the more original area code used as 520.

This was fone so as a result of the expansion of population in areas such as Flagstaff and also mentionable Tuscon, Arizona.

Interesting to also note is the fact that the northern part of Arizona and the north western section of the state which contains the Grand Canyon is also under the area code 928.

Unlike some area codes in AZ, 928 covers a good deal of counties (thirteen to be specific) and maintains communication integrity in portions or complete sections of such towns or cities like Fort Thomas, Yucca and Fort Apache, totally a grand number of one hundred sixty-two, the most of any other area code in Arizona.

It is also interesting to mention that at this time this area code has fewer people living under it than other Arizona area codes, even though it has the most cities under it, with the current population of people being less than one point one (1.1) million residents.

One of the sports teams under this area code is Cardinals, and Mohave Community College is just one of many educational institutes under the area code 928.
