Alaska, though it is the largest state in the US being twice the size of Texas alone, has a very small population (less than 1 million), meaning that it really only needs one area code to serve the entire state, and that code is 907.
The only exception is a little place called Hyder which uses the area code 250, which also serves a lot of British Columbia, considering that Hyder borders B.C.
This area code was issued at the same time 808 for Hawaii was. An interesting fact is that because of the population density, many small town Alaskan residents are known for not giving out their entire numbers because it is not needed. Instead, the area code plus the last four numbers usually suffices.
Because of Alaska's monstrous size, area code 907 is considered the largest serving code in the United States of America. Since it encompasses all of the state of Alaska, it also covers all major cities and towns or about 226 of them.
