Area code 760 serves the following nine counties, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego.

It also provides service to a total of one hundred and twenty-seven cities and towns, and has well above seven hundred extensions in use.

The population of this area is just under two million people. The majority of which are white, black, Hispanic and Asian.

This area code is shared with 442, and together they serve a long stretch along the south central to south west section of the state of California, and it also borders at the very bottom alongside of area code 619 and 858.

Because of much taxing on the area code 760 do to the population increase, it was debated that it should be split as well, and so it was in 1998 split into 442 to share the work load of all of the individuals, however this was mostly done to the Sand Diego area, however it is now currently being used simply as an overlay.
