650 is an area code that serves the state of California, and it governs over top of twelve counties and forty-seven cities, some of which are Half Moon Bay, Moss Beach, South San Fransisco, La Honda, San Gregorio and Atherton.
It has about six hundred extensions to it, and the population is just under two million people, with the order of whites, Asian, Hispanics, and then blacks, and the female population out-weighing the male population.
Originally this area code was 415, but was created as one of many splits from more original area codes in California because of the population and housing rise.
There was a six month run before this area code went into full effect, where either 415 or 650 could be dialed and used, but then 650 was established permanently in January of 1998.
