The north American telecommunications area code 562, which was established in nineteen ninety-seven (1997), only covers five counties, however the portions of those counties that it does maintain control over are some of the most populated areas and sections of those counties in all of the state of California.
It also encompasses fifty-six total cities like Anaheim, San Fransisco, La Jolla, Los Angeles, and Pacific Palisades, with rough estimated population of about two million two hundred thousand or so people with them being mostly Hispanic (over 1 million) and followed by whites (just under 1 million).
Its important to note that the male to female size ratio is pretty much dead even with a little over one million each.
It was created in January of 1997 as a split from the older 310 area code, and covers mainly the areas of Los Angeles county that contain beach worthy places like Long Beach, which alone contains many historical places worth mentioning such as Rancho Los Alamitos, Bembridge House, Linden House and the Breaker's Hotel.
The RMS Queen Mary is also in this area, which is the legendary ocean liner, now converted into a major tourist attraction which is reputed to be haunted.
Before the split from 310, the area code was 213, which split into three ten and then a later split into 562 because of this area's wrapped growth.
