Area code 305 is a North American telephone code that serves a portion of the state of Florida. In total, it covers twenty-six cities, some of them are Palm Bay, Key Biscayne, Hollywood, Homestead and Jupiter.
The population that is served by this area code is significantly much larger than most other telephone code areas, with numbers of more than two point three million people. The majority of these people are whites, but this is closely followed up by Hispanics as well and women outnumber men in this area just by around fifty-thousand as of the time of writing this.
At one point area code 305 served all of the state of Florida but now only serves Miami in the Miami-Dade county and it also serves an area of the Florida Keys, meaning that it is found in the south-eastern portion of the state of Florida. Its important to note that it also is overlaid by code 786.
In Florida, area codes have grown along the east coast of the state and have moved down south more and more as the population has grown in this direction and the state has expanded its demographics.
It is remarkable to note that it is one of the first area codes that was issued when the NANP (North American Numbering Plan) was set up in 1947, and yet it still serves such a large population and city (Miami) without being broken up with overlays.
