HISTORY OF AREA CODE:

This area code called 303 belongs to Colorado and it covers seventeen counties as well as seventy-three cities or towns with some being Broomfield, Ward, Loveland, Grant, Elbert, Idaho Springs and Commerce City.

This area code covers actually a very significant and large portion of the population of the state of Colorado, with a total of around two and a half million people.

The majority of this population is made up mainly of white people, being followed up by Hispanics and then blacks, and the female to male population total is about neck and neck.

303 is overlayed with area code 720. 303 was for the longest time the only area code needed to serve the people of the entire state of Colorado, but as with all other expansion of area codes, the population grew and so did the need for more North American codes in the state.

Originally in 1988 303 was split into 719, and then in nineteen ninety-eight, 720 and 303 would be overlayed with one another.

This collection of codes now serves the central Colorado region, with 970 supporting all of the northern and western southern parts of the state, and 719 covering almost all of the eastern side of the state, and about half the southern section of Colorado.
