HISTORY OF AREA CODE:

Area code 209 is a relatively older area code being created in nineteen fifty-eight (1958) as a split from the original 916 area code. It covers seventeen counties and a total of one hundred and twenty-three cities, some of which are North Fork, Twain Harte and Los Banos with a total population mass of about one point five million people.

Whites make up the majority of the population, however Hispanics are a close second, then followed by blacks and the male and female ratio is pretty much the same.

Some mentionable radio stations that are in the area underneath area code 209 are KJOY 99.3 Lite Rock and KRXQ 98.5.

As can be expected in the land of movies, many media productions have been shot in and/or around the counties that reside under two zero nine, such as All the king's men and Dreamscape.

California has currently has twenty-five area codes because of its massive population, with 209 being set into north central California.

The city of Sacramento is also served by this area code which provides much of the populous that is under 209.
